Sterpka qualifies for NCAA meet

WESTFIELD – Westfield State senior diver Katie Sterpka (Northwestern Regional/Barkhamsted, Conn.) has has qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division III diving championships, based on her stron performance at the regional qualifying meet at hosted by Springfield College this weekend.
Sterpka placed third in the 1-meter with a school record score of 495.10 for the 11 dive sequence on Saturday.
She took sixth place in the 3-meter qualifier on Saturday, posting a score of 453.05.
A total of 26 divers from schools in New England and New York competed at the Region 3 meet. Six divers qualified from the meet; Maura Sticco-ivins (Wellesley); Austin Campitelli (NYU); Ariana Ross (Williams); Michelle Higgins (Williams); Katie Sterpka (Westfield State); and Morgan Kitzmiller (Springfield).
Sterpka will compete on March 18-21 at the national meet at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah will serve as the hosts. A total of 527 participants (479 swimmers and 48 divers) will compete in the championships.
