Thank you Ward 1

Mary-Ann-BabinskiThe recount for Ward 1 City Councilor has been completed. The outcome changed by two votes resulting in a difference of nine votes instead of eleven. A very close election indeed. Even though the recount did not change the results, it was the logical next step to take. I was honored and encouraged by the positive comments I received from residents, friends and family before and after the recount. This was certainly an example of democracy in action and I was happy to be a part of the process. I truly appreciate the efforts and attention to detail of all who participated in the recount: the ballot readers, the talliers, the monitoring agents, the media and the security officer. I want to thank City Clerk, Karen Fanion, her staff and the board of registrars for their efficient and orderly fulfillment of the recount process. I offer my sincere congratulations to Mr. Christopher Keefe on his victory.
Now that the contest for Ward 1 City Council has been officially completed, I want to thank those residents who were willing to cast their vote for me. Know that I truly appreciate your support. I also owe an extreme debt of gratitude to my campaign helpers, friends and family who supported me before, during and after the election. Thank you! The entire campaign season offered many opportunities to connect with people who care about this city and the direction it is going. It was a pleasure to talk with them and to share ideas. Thank you!
Finally, because I believe that residents should be a part of the decision-making process in all matters that directly have an impact on their quality of life, as a resident and concerned citizen of Ward 1, I will continue to do what I can to help make Westfield a healthy and safe place to live, work, go to school and play for all residents. I believe that working together, we can achieve a sustainable and environmentally just future for all.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Babinski
