Valida B. Adams

WESTFIELD – Valida B. (Firtion) Adams, 86, of Westfield died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Noble Hospital. She was born in Springfield on March 11, 1926 to Frank R. and Emma (Berr) Firtion.
Valida attended local schools in Westfield and nursing School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Westfield and was a member of its Wesley Group. Valida was the widow of James A. Adams who died February 2, 2003. GG as she was known to her family, loved to cook. Sunday meals were always at her home with all the family there. Christmas was a special holiday for GG. The tree was always huge and she always spent weeks wrapping her presents to the hilt.
She leaves a son, James F. Adams and his wife Sue and a daughter Randy R. Woodis and her husband Edward all of Westfield; five grandchildren, James R. Adams and his wife Jill, Kimberly White and her husband Richard, Jonathan Adams and his wife Julie all of Westfield, Edward Woodis of Jacksonville, Florida and Stephanie Harder and her husband Dan of Southwick, and great grandchildren, R.J., Heather, Lindsey, Bridgette, Joshua, Courtney, London, Julia , James, Grace and two great great-grandchildren Mala and McKinley. Valida was predeceased by a sister, Allette-Mae Martin on April 4, 2000.
The funeral will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
