Westfield State Class Partners With The Evvgirl Foundation For Fundraiser Events

WESTFIELDThe Advanced Public Relations class at Westfield State University has partnered with the EvvGirl Foundation to raise money and raise awareness about drinking and driving. There will be two events sponsored by the Advanced Public Relations class- the NICU EvvERY Day event will be held on Tuesday, May 2 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Dining Commons at Westfield State University and the Seize the Keys event will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The PAHK bar and grill, 285 Elm Street, in Westfield.
The EvvGirl Foundation was founded in 2013 by the parents of Evan Bard, an Agawam native who tragically lost her life that same year when she got into the car driven by her ex-boyfriend who had been drinking and was nearly three times the legal limit. The EvvGirl Foundation promotes Seize the Keys, an educational drunk driving campaign run by Bard’s family that raises money for neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) cameras. The NICU cameras allow families to watch their premature babies in hospitals from the comfort of their homes. The foundation has a goal of providing video cameras for every NICU bed throughout New England in honor of Evan Bard’s dream to work in a NICU unit.
The NICU EvvERY Day event in the Dining Commons at Westfield State benefits the EvvGirl Foundation for the purchase of Angel Eye and Wave Technologies cameras for NICU units in hospitals throughout New England.  The event will include a prize wheel, pink pinky nail painting, pink food, and raffles prizes.
The Seize the Keys event includes a 50/50 raffle, signature pink drinks, and EvvGirl promotional items to raise money and awareness for the “Seize the Keys” campaign. Attendees will be given the opportunity to sign a pledge to seize the keys of friends or family members to prevent them from driving while under the influence.
These events are open to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear pink, Evan Bard’s favorite color. General admission to the Westfield State University Dinning Commons is $7.50 for lunch and $8.50 for dinner.
