WHS hockey surges, 15-1

SALEM, N.H. – The Westfield High School hockey team stayed unbeaten (4-0) in a big, big way.
Sean Spohr scored four goals, and Connor Sullivan and Mike Santinello each netted a hat trick (3 goals apiece) to lead Westfield in a 15-1 drubbing of Concord (N.H.) in a Salem, N.H., hockey tourney opener Thursday.
Branden Miemiec (2 goals), Neil Parrow, Ethan Nassar, and Greg Kline also scored for the Bombers.
“We just played an excellent game,” Westfield coach C.B. “Moose” Matthews said. “(We) moved the puck, and good things happened. We looked pretty good up here.”
Chris Gentile finished with five assists for Westfield; Adam Collier had four; Parrow had three; Adam Hosmer, Nate Barnes, and Anthony Cagliostro each had two; and, Connor Sullivan, Santinello, Chris Sullivan, Craig Lacey, and Sam Evan had one apiece.
Bombers goalie Nick Liberto finished with 18 saves.
Westfield next plays Keene in the Salem (N.H.) tournament Friday at 11 a.m.

LATE RESULTS
St. Mary 6, Central 3
Nate Tremblay scored a hat trick, Andrew Booth made two goals, and freshman Jonathan Spear collected one – his first on varsity – in the Dec. 22 victory for St. Mary.
Assists were credited to Saints’ Jeff Hockenberry (3), Ashton Bourbonnais (1), Zach Slepchuk (1), and Tremblay (1).
St. Mary goalie Zach Brown had 28 saves.
