WESTFIELD – The 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield Mass., will be executing training October 5-7, 2016.
Massachusetts’ Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing is conducting routine training. This training will include F-15 aircraft scheduled Monday – Friday over Southern Vermont and the New Hampshire border. There will be two periods of training for up to approximately one hour both in the late morning and early afternoon.
During the training, the F-15 Eagles will be above 10,000 feet and will not be conducting low altitude training. Training will include basic fighter maneuvering.
The pilots will be training on critical homeland defense and war-time tasking skills to defend the nation against terrorist threat and overseas conflicts. The training is critical to assure the Airmen are prepared for real world homeland defense and war time takings.
Training is carefully planned and closely controlled.
The 104th Fighter Wing is charged with ensuring their personnel are trained, equipped, and ready to go to war as well as support domestic operations. With a 24/7 alert posture, the Airmen could respond to an airborne threat at any time, and they often do not have the luxury of advance notice, however, when they can prepare for a mission such as this, they will try to share as much information as we can.
