WEST SPRINGFIELD (WWLP) – The extreme cold we saw over the weekend, combined with the rapid thaw of the last couple days has led to a big ice jam on the Westfield River.
About 200 yards of ice is all jammed up at a bend in the river, just east of the West Springfield-Westfield line.
Despite the jam in the river, there have been no reports of flooding, which is often associated with ice jams.
