WESTFIELD – The $13 million water filtration bond will now go to the Legislative and Ordinance (L&O) Committee on Tuesday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. The meeting will also be televised on Community Channel 15.
Ward 2 Councilor Ralph J. Figy, who chairs L&O, said the bond was referred to his committee because all bonds must go through L&O. He set a meeting as quickly as possible, because he said he would like to “expedite the process, and take care of the water.”
The L&O meeting will open with public participation. Figy said there is no public participation at Special City Council meetings according to the rules of the Council, which is why there was none at the Special City Council meeting on March 27. Fifteen minutes will be allowed this Tuesday, according to council rules. “If any committee is transparent, it’s the L&O,” Figy said.
Figy said he put out a request for questions on the bond from all of the councilors, but as of Monday morning, had not received any. “The staff did a great job in presenting the information,” Figy said, referring to last week’s Special City Council meeting.
