Mildred P. Jopson

Mildred P. (Moore) Jopson, 96, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Mount Saint Vincent Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Robbie Leland Moore and Justine Phoebe (Parsons) Moore, born 22 October 1919 in Holyoke. She graduated from Chicopee High School, retired as a seamstress at the Holyoke Geriatric Center. Mildred was the fourth generation of our family to be married at the Holy Family Church, at Brightside, Holyoke. At Mt. St. Vincent the Masses and Prayer Services she attended gave her great spiritual comfort. She was a compassionate, caring and humble person. Her greatest joy in life was her family. We will forever cherish our memories of her loving kindness and her gentle words of encouragement throughout our lives. She loved the ocean, vacations at Camp Ellis, Maine, loved to read, enjoyed politics, and playing bingo with her friends at Prospect Heights. In her youth her favorite place to be was tending her vegetable garden, sharing its abundance with neighbors and friends. Her Sunday and holiday dinners are legendary. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Carlton B. Jopson, sons; Carlton A. Jopson, Gary R. Jopson, and Gregory C. Jopson, a sister, Justine Phoebe Parsons, Suffield, CT, brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald B. Parsons, Russell L. and Mary (Prych) Jopson, and Lester C. and Patricia (Crean) Jopson, granddaughter, Kelly Diane (Jopson) Durand, Dracut, great-grandson, Brian C. Jopson Dracut, nephews; Alan Parsons, Donald B. Parsons, CA, and Robbie L. Parsons, 2015, Milton, NH. She is survived by a son and his wife, Russell and Patricia (Bewsee) Jopson of Chicopee, a daughter, Rochelle A. Langevin of South Hadley, daughters-in-law, Dawn (Adams) Jopson of Tyngsborough, and Denise (Moreau) Jopson of Chicopee. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mt. St. Vincent for their loving and compassionate care shown to their mother. Mildred would like to say one more “Thank you.” Please join us for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, MA at 10am on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
