CONNECTICUT: Stephen R. Gruneiro, 63, of Bristol, CT died on April 20, 2020. Steve was born April 1, 1957 in Springfield, MA to Domingo and Frances Gruneiro. He enjoyed a lively childhood and young adulthood in Westfield, MA where he spent time with many friends and family. Steve especially enjoyed traveling to New Jersey on occasion to catch up with cousins he grew up with. Stephen graduated from Westfield High School and took courses at Springfield Technical Community College as he ventured into learning about how things were built. He worked at Sterling Radiator Co., now Sterling Hydronics in Westfield, MA for several years. Stephen was especially proud to work where his father had worked for many years. After he moved to Connecticut he worked at Sears in the shipping and receiving department. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox in his free time and socializing with friends and his family.
Stephen is survived by his son, Jared Gruneiro of Boston, MA. There was not a time in conversations with Steve that he did not mention how proud, impressed, and pleased with all of Jared’s accomplishments he was, and with the person he has become. Stephen is also survived by a sister Lynn Gruneiro and husband, Brian McGrath of Falmouth, MA, sister, Victoria Gruneiro and wife Terri Hathaway of Springfield, MA, and ex-wife and mother to Jared, Deborah de Cola. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Melissa Goodreau, Mallory LaBonte, Kyle Goodreau, Alexandra Goodreau, Madison Gruneiro, and Sydney Gruneiro. Stephen was predeceased by his father Domingo Patrick Gruneiro in April, 2003 and his mother, Frances Kendra Gruneiro in November, 2012.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 16, 2021, 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Westfield, MA. Donations in Stephen’s name can be given online to the American Heart Association. Firtionadams.com
