104th Fighter Wing
RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – An Airman from the 104th Services Flight, Barnes Air National Guard Base, has trained at the Air Force Inn, Kaiserslautern Military Community Center, Ramstein, Germany May 5 -7.
Staff Sgt. Adrianne Johnson, also the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Lodging for Barnes, has trained with supervisors on various tasks required to run a hotel; in this case, a 350 room hotel for members who come through Ramstein after deployments.
She has worked with housekeeping, inspecting the hotel rooms, collaborated with accounting, and supporting the front of the house through working reservations, logistics, and supply management. Her experiences have allowed for her to be upgraded in her job and more prepared to deploy with her active duty counterparts.
“I have taken full advantage of this training opportunity to get the most out my experience while I am here,” Johnson said.
Working with lodging on an active duty base allows her to have a complete understanding of what her services position is all about, Johnson said. The education she receives about her career field at the 104th Fighter Wing is based on computer training and books; there is no lodging facility at Barnes Air National Guard Base. At the Air Force Inn, she is able to work hands on in an environment that is not available at home.
Training at Ramstein, the largest active-duty base in Europe, creates opportunities to interact with civilians, active duty, guard, reserve, members of every branch of the military and our NATO partners from all over the world.
“Standing behind the front desk talking with people and learning how to help in specific situations is an opportunity I can benefit from,” Johnson said. On the job training makes you take what you have learned and apply it in real life.
Her valuable experience will be passed on to Airmen below her to better explain what they are learning from their services computer based training and reading materials.
