Major crime and incident report
Friday, May 29, 2015
4:07 a.m.
: vandalism, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, caller reports athletic field equipment moved into parking lot, suspects it is a senior prank, officer reports finding exterior door locks also damaged;
1:03 p.m.: loitering, Sadie Knox Playground, 50 Prospect St., Westfield Little League official reports a gathering of about 40 teenagers inside fenced ball field, officer reports no police services required;
2:58 p.m.: vandalism, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, caller reports youths throwing water balloons containing a chemical at vehicles in parking lot, officer reports no damage observed to any vehicles;
3:36 p.m.: threat to commit a crime, West School Street, a girl came to station to report that another girl damaged her laptop computer and cosmetics, officer reports information taken;
4:52 p.m.: harassment, Dunkin Donuts, 625 East Main St., female employee reports problem with a male patron, officer reports patron was issued a trespass order;
5:16 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Southampton Road in area of Wendy’s restaurant, caller reports a southbound motor vehicle struck traffic signs and kept going with four flat tires, officer reports locating the vehicle and requested that an ambulance be dispatched, officer reports motorist having a medical issue, EMS assisted the subject at the scene, vehicle was towed, state Department of Transportation notified of damage to signs, will pick up and replace damaged signs;
6:05 p.m.: motor vehicle, pedestrian accident, Elm Street at Bartlett Street intersection, officer reports that an eight-year-old boy ran out in front of a vehicle and was struck, child sustained minor injuries and was transported to Noble Hospital for evaluation and treatment;
7:21 p.m.: violation of harassment order, Cowles Court, detective requesting a patrol officer to transport a 15-year-old boy who was taken into custody for violation of a harassment prevention order, youth transported to police headquarters.

6:03 p.m.:
larceny, Southampton Road, caller reports theft of tools, equipment and metal valued at $100,000 from his garage and identified a suspect, case referred to the detective bureau for investigation, detective reports items taken over an extended period of time and that there is no sign of forced entry into garage where items were stored;
7:43 p.m.: counterfeiting, Ryan’s Liquors, 31 Franklin St., store employee reports subject trying to make a purchase with a $20 bill which appears to be counterfeit, officer reports bill taken for detective bureau which will attempt to determine if it is counterfeit or not;
10:30 p.m.: suspicious activity, Frederick Street, caller reports a subject is trying to break into a residence, officer reports locating the subject and identifying that person as the resident of the apartment and who had locked the keys inside the apartment, services rendered.

1:27 a.m.: motor vehicle vi0olation, arrest, Union Avenue, patrol officer reports observing the operator of a 1998 Honda Accord go through a red traffic light at the intersection of Union Street and began following the vehicle, officer placed the motorist under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol, Edwin Rolon-Gomez, 54, of 26 Cumberland St., Springfield charged with OUI liquor, a red light violation and failing to keep within marked street lanes, vehicle towed;
11:03 a.m.: vandalism, St. James Avenue, caller reports two vehicles damaged, a 2005 Nissan and a 2913 Lexus, two tires of one vehicle and a tire of the second vehicle slashed, paint of both vehicles scarped with a metal object;
11:27 a.m.: property found, Cleveland Avenue, citizen came to station to turn in an Apple iPhone found in the driveway of residence;
12:32 p.m.: disturbance, Stanley Park, 400 Western Avenue, security reports a confrontation with the operator of a motor vehicle after that person went the wrong way on a one-way access road twice, officer reports subject vehicle located on Western Avenue near Pine Hill Cemetery, a man and a woman were both issued trespass orders;
3:35 p.m.: larceny, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, citizen came to station to report theft of pocketbook, citizen stated she used bathroom and left purse behind, purse was gone upon her return, officer reports loss prevention reviewed security video but could not identify who had taken missing purse;
11:00 p.m.: hit and run accident, King Street, officer reports evidence of a vehicle striking a utility pole found, motorist had left the scene; apparent damage to utility pole, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified and will inspect the pole Monday.
