WESTFIELD: Julia (Petrides) Peer, 91, of Westfield passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Noble Hospital on Monday July 13, 2015. Julia was born in Springfield July 22, 1923 to the late Charles and Helen (Diamond) Petrides. Julia was raised in Chester, graduated from Chester High School, and attended American International College in Springfield. After marrying her husband Carl in 1951, they resided in Westfield.
Julia served as the Treasurer and Secretary of Peer Brothers Trucking Company. She was a faithful member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a past president of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptichos Society. Julia also served as treasurer of the Westfield Women’s Club, and was a member of Golden Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star.
Julia was predeceased by her husband Carl W. Peer in 1973, her son Carl C. Peer in 2006, and her brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Theodore and Kanella Peer, and Paul and Barbara (Peer) Pachinchuk.
Julia leaves her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jeanne (Tatro) Peer of Westfield, her 2 grandchildren, Carl W. Peer of Kingston, MA and Jennifer Peer of Delaware, and 3 great-grandchildren, Imajen, Connor, and Abigail.
She also leaves her wonderful and dedicated Westfield “Arbors Family”.
Calling hours are Thursday 4-7 PM at Robert E Cusack Funeral home, Westfield. Funeral at 10 AM Friday at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Springfield. Immediately following the service, burial will be at North Becket Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral or a charity of one’s choice.
