Robert Maxton

WESTFIELD – A much-loved husband, proud father, loving grandfather, and brother,flag Robert “Bob” L. Maxton, 77, of Westfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family. He leaves his treasured wife of 55 years, Catherine “Bonnie” Maxton, his four children, Joseph Maxton of Westfield, Lisa and husband Scott Chaderjian of Westfield, Timothy Maxton of Feeding Hills, and Elizabeth and husband William LaChapelle of Chester. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, whom he loved and was loved by: Robert L. Maxton II and Rachel Maxton, Christopher, Michael, and Megan Chaderjian, and Catherine and Jake LaChapelle. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Marian (Dinsmore) Maxton, his sister June Kernan, and beloved granddaughter Kayla LaChapelle. Robert was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in December of 1937 and grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. Robert was a US Army veteran serving from 1955-1963. Robert married Catherine in the spring of 1960, beginning their family with their first child in the spring of 1962, and moving to Westfield to raise a family in 1965. Robert was employed as a sales representative for Manny’s TV & Appliances for over 30-years, retiring in 2008. Robert was a former Parks and Recreational Commissioner, a member of the Board of Directors at Pine Hill Cemetery and a long-time Westfield Youth Hockey Coach. With Bonnie at his side, he supported all of his children and grandchildren, attending countless wrestling matches, hockey games, horse shows, cheerleading and motorcross competitions. His passions included flying his radio controlled planes, woodworking, sitting in his chair relaxing with his beloved dogs, Sara and Sadie, but first and foremost, dinners at his home with the whole family present spending time together being “Maxtons”.
