WESTFIELD: John (“Jack”) J. Thomson, 85, died Monday, August 3, 2015 in a local nursing home. He was born on October 20, 1929 in Lynn MA to the late John and Elizabeth (Horne) Thomson. He grew up in Lynn MA, attended local schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He was a graduate of Boston University receiving both B.A. and M.A. Degrees in Education. He married his late wife Lois A. (Landers) Thomson in 1952 who died in 1978. John was a teacher and principal in the Greenfield Public Schools from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. In 1980 he married his current wife Betty (Johnson) Turner Thomson. Jack enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S and Europe. He was a volunteer at Saguaro National Park in Tucson, AZ. Beginning in the early 90’s, Jack and Betty moved from Greenfield and lived in both Wolfeboro, NH and Tucson AZ. He leaves his sons Scott L. Thomson and his wife Lynn of Westfield and Greig W. Thomson of Medford, Oregon, his step-daughters Virginia Turner and her partner Bob Rehbein of Bennington, VT and Lou Zellner and her husband Bruce of Manchester, VT. Jack also leaves his grandchildren Joshua, Rebecca, Alexander, Caitlynn, Ceileigh, Caroline and Aryn, four great-grandchildren and was pre-deceased by his sister Marguerite Hammer.
