Hi, I don’t live in the Cross St. area so I was grateful to read the information that Tom Smith put together as part of the “Referendum Petition to recall the City Council’s vote to trade Cross St. Playground for the wooded, isolated, drug-active flood land on industrialized Ponders Hollow Road”. I recently walked from the Big Y down to Ponders Hollow area. There are no sidewalks as was stated. As I walked I found that several of the businesses have parking areas where the cars back into the street when exiting, another fact that makes walking hazardous. Once I got to the end where the proposed playground would be, I found it to be very isolated and of course overgrown; not an area where I would take my grandchildren to play even if there was a playground. This area is in no way a reasonable trade for Cross St. Playground. Also, if this area is developed into a playground, how much are we as taxpayers going to have to pay? I urge everyone to take a walk/ride to this area with today’s safety and security issues in mind. Thank you.
Just finished reading the platforms of the two mayoral candidates. With Sullivan it is the same old thing spend spend spend. Roeder is going in the right direction. I truly feel it is time for a change we can’t continue on this path.
Enough is enough….when bicyclists start doing the following:
1. Pay a registration fee for their bicycle
2. Pay an inspection fee for their bicycle
3. Pay for testing to get a license to operate their bicycle
4. Pay for a license to operate their bicycle
5. Pay for insurance to insure their bicycle
6. Pay an usage fee in a manner similar to the gasoline tax
7. Pay an excise tax to own their bicycle
Then, and only then, if they want to use the roadways and other public facilities, follow the rules and laws of the road, be subject to tickets for moving violations when they do not, then and only then will I cede the usage of the public roadways to them. Thank you.
So you want the kids to go swimming and fishing down at Tin Bridge. Where are you coming from??? There has been two drownings in the past few weeks. Or do you expect the city to have a lifeguard on duty day and night.
