WESTFIELD-Ruth Smith passed away peacefully on August 31, 2015. She was born in
Summerville, MA. on October 12, 1925 and was raised in Westfield, MA. ,with her parents Marion Dennis Rising and Albert Rising Jr. Her education was completed in the Springfield MA. school system. Ruth was predeceased by both of her parents and by her sister June and brother-in-law Lloyd Barber. Ruth was also widowed three times, her husbands were Edward Summers, Morgan DeGray and John Smith. Ruth is survived by an aunt, Rita Causno of Charlestown, MA. Her daughter, Leona Summers and son-in-law, Ed Delegado of El Paso, TX. Ruth also leaves three grand children, Danielle Delgado in New York and Jeremy and Bejamin Delgado in TX. Also surviving are John Smiths daughter, Denise and her two children of Westfield. Ruth will be missed very much by her nieces, Sally Barber and Donna Guillemette, their husbands, Thomas Swochak and Normand Guillemette, and her nephew, Allan Barber. Ruth also leaves her grand niece, Tammy Barber and her children, Jacob and Gabrielle Craig. Ruth delighted in taking care of her home and enjoyed seasonal updates and floral arrangements. She always appreciated contacts with family, friends, and neighbors and she especially treasured her regular telephone conversations with her daughter. Ruth had a good heart and was prone to spontaneous acts of generosity. Further, Ruth consistently elicited acts of caring and kindness by others. Ruth’s life enriched the fabric of our family and our community. The family will celebrate her life and have a service at the Pine Hill Cemetary at 1:00 p.m. The weekend of the anniversary of her birthday October 10,2015.
