WESTFIELD, MA: Stanley Joseph Sondej, 99, of Westfield died on Sunday December 27, 2015 at home. He was born in Chicopee on August 25, 1916 the son of the late John and Mary (Budarz) Sondej and was a 1934 graduate of Chicopee High School. Stanley was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He attended American International College after his discharge from the service. Stanley was employed at the former Spalding Co. of Chicopee and was a postal clerk at the Westfield Post Office for thirty years, retiring in 1980.He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church. Stanley was a member of the American Legion Post #452 of Chicopee, St. Joseph’s Mens Club, the Polish American Veterans Club of Chicopee, and was a forty year member of Tekoa Country Club. He was predeceased by his loving wife Bernice (Perzanowski) Sondej in 2013.He is survived by two nephews, Daniel Chrzan and his wife Dorothy of Ludlow, and Thomas Chrzan and his wife Connie of Florida, and a niece Marlene Poirier and her husband Luce of Canada. He was predeceased by his siblings,Ernest, Martin ,Stella Hubbard, Frances Chrzan ,and Jane Sondej. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church at 11am.Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 9:30am until 10:30am.Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Westfield.firtionadams.com
