Woman accused of leaving baby in car with temperature in 20s

WRENTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Rhode Island woman who left her 8-month-old baby in her vehicle with outdoor temperatures in the 20s is facing child endangerment charges.
Wrentham police say the baby was in the car alone for about 10 minutes Tuesday at the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets in Massachusetts.
Police responded after getting a 911 call from another shopper who heard crying.
The mother, 27-seven-year-old Yao Liu, of East Providence, had come out of a store by the time officers arrived. She was charged but not arrested.
Liu told officers she thought it was too cold to take the baby out of the vehicle.
Deputy Chief William McGrath said the baby was taken to a hospital as a precaution but appeared to be OK.
