WESTFIELD; Shirley (Mayer) Heiden, 80, (1936-2016) passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016 in Westfield, MA. She was born in Springfield to the late John and Rose (Halon) Mayer and was the youngest of seven siblings. Shirley worked in real estate, home inspections, as a court stenographer, and for the Springfield Armory. She was predeceased by her beloved husband firefighter Fred W. Heiden in 2004 and is survived by her sister Jean Doyle of New York, three daughters, Linda A. Bennett of Westfield, Lori H. Engle and her husband Paul of Hubbardston, MA and Darlene Meunier of Westfield, two grandsons, Ken Meunier and Tim Bennett and her great grandson, Jeremy Bennett. Shirley loved hockey, spending time at the ocean and she was an avid animal lover. Services will be private. Donations in Shirley’s name may be directed in lieu of flowers to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 East Mountain Rd. Westfield, MA 01085.
