Nominate Candidates

Russell – Residents of Russell took only ten minutes to nominate candidates for all but one of the open seats at the Town Caucus last night.
Nominated were: Illtyd Fernandez-Sierra for Moderator for one year; Nancy Mezger for Selectman for a three-year term; Ted Gloss for Assessor for three years; Louis Garlo, Tree Warden for one year; Liz Lewis, Library Trustee for three years; Kim Merritt for the Gateway Regional School Committee for three years; Ruth Kennedy, Gateway Regional School Committee for one year; Lyle Maxwell, Water Commissioner for three years; Rich Girard, Sewer Commissioner for three years; Luis Garlo, Cable T.V. Commissioner for three years; Lenise Pappas, Cemetery Commissioner for three years, and Daniel LaBombard, Municipal Light Board for three years. The office of Cable T.V. Commissioner for one year was left vacant.
Also nominated to fill the (three) open three-year seats on the Planning Board were Alice Taverna, James Oleksak and Deanna Ridgeway. Also nominated for the (five) three-year Constable positions were Patti Brooks, David Ruell, Athena Fox, Daniel Labombard and Jason Boyer.
None of the seats are contested. Any other resident wishing to run for any of the offices must submit a letter of intent to the Town Clerk by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 12, which is also the last day to file nomination papers signed by at least twenty voters. All signatures will be certified by the Board of Registrars.
Tuesday, April 3 is the last day for voters to register for the Annual Town Election and Town Meeting. The election will be held on Monday, May 7 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The business portion of the Town Meeting will be held on Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Russell Elementary School.
