Eleanor J. Shaver

SOUTHWICK: purple flowers Eleanor Jean (Westfall) Shaver, 91 (1925 – 2016), of Southwick and formerly of Cobleskill, NY, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 17th at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam. Born in Albany, NY to the late Howard and Blanch Westfall, she was employed with the Cobleskill Times Journal as a Proof Reader for over 20 years.

Eleanor was a past member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in New York and of the Southwick Congregational Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and spelling bees, winning the 2015 spelling bee competition at Heritage Hall.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert R. Shaver in 1993, her sister, Marion Dane and by her daughter-in-law, Anne (Nicklaw) Shaver.

She is survived by her son, Randy Shaver and his wife Barbara Wynns of Old Saybrook, CT; her sister, Doris Urban of New York and by her two grandchildren, Ryan and Carly Shaver.

Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Friday May 20th from 4 – 7 PM at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Hwy in Southwick, with a 6:30 PM service to be held in the funeral home. Committal services in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery in Cobleskill, NY will be private for the family.
