Uh Oh, the city council is thinking of implementing an “under the table” tax increase. If they vote to privatize the trash collection, that would remove the $700,000 line item from the city budget but guess who would then be responsible for paying the new private trash collection company the difference! That’s on top of their proposed 3.5% to 4% Real Estate tax increase and the proposed .7% (about $80@ year for the average family) meal tax. How about considering a 10% cut in the runaway school department budget, that black hole has a life of it’s own and it’s time to take back control.
