Ellen R. Csekovsky

ALLENTOWN, PA – ellen csekovsky youngEllen Rita Csekovsky, age 69, of Allentown PA. passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from complications of diabetes. Ellen was born in Springfield, MA on June 25, 1947. Her parents were the late Margaret E. (Malone) Csekovsky and Francis L. Csekovsky. Ellen attended Westfield Schools prior to moving on to High School at St. Francis Academy in Bethlehem, PA.  After graduating salutatorian of her class, she pursued a life with The School Sisters of St. Francis.  Ellen taught English and German at the St. Francis Academy and was active in the schools Drama club.  In May 1980 she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Catholic University of America. In May 1989, Ellen also received an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Radio/TV fro Northampton County Area Community College Northampton, PA.  Ellen was named supervisor of the Catholic schools in Lehigh Valley. After her teaching career with the Sisters, she later became an advocate for the mentally challenged adults and used her creativity to bring joy to many. She enjoyed children and graduated from Clown School as Dribbles the Clown. She also had a passion for writing and hosted many writing club meetings. Ellen was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of the Happy Bombardiers where she played her own Bomba instrument in Allentown.

Ellen is survived by her sisters Margaret Csekovsky of Pittsfield, Theresa Gombieski and husband Donald from Milford, NH; Ann Csekovsky of Westfield; her brothers Francis (Pete) Csekovsky of Enfield, CT, Andy Csekovsky and his wife Brenda of Westfield. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who she held close to her heart. She also leaves her good friend Sister Mary Xavier of Bethlehem, PA.  Ellen was pre-deceased by her brother Joseph, sister Mary Jean and sister-in-law Judy Csekovsky.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, July 7th at St. Peter and St. Casimir Parish on State Street in Westfield at 10am, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will precede the Mass in the church from 9am-10am.
