OK, we get it…some parents and kids liked Duquette. No matter what the reason, he resigned and he’s not coming back so it’s time to move on. It was a personnel issue that no one (mayor, superintendent, school committee or anyone else with specific knowledge) can legally comment on so as parents we will never know the reason for his resignation. Yeah, there will be four principals in 5 years but again, let’s move on. A team that will include parents will be part of the search committee for a new WHS principal and we have to put our trust in those people to make the right decision. They will vet out all the candidates and make a recommendation. Be prepared that it may not be a current member of the Westfield High School administration or even a member of the Westfield school system. I am confident that a great principal will be found who will have the right certifications to run a high school, who can properly manage WHS’ accreditation and one who can vehemently advocate for long needed remodeling of the school. Time to pull up our big girl/boy pants and move on.
