Eva A. (Kasheta) Martone

Kasheta and was a 1941 graduate of Westfield High School on Smith Avenue. Her first employment was in the Art Department of the Old Colony Envelope Company. She later worked in the advertising department of Stanley Home Products on Arnold St. as well as at the H.B. Smith Company, retiring to become a homemaker and mother. She eventually returned to work in the Health Department of City Hall where she was Head Clerk for 20 years. She worked on a number of Flu Clinics and was an active member at the Polling Stations during elections. Being interested in travel she went on trips in the U.S., Canada and Europe. On one vacation she visited her parent’s birthplace in Lithuania. Reading and gardening were also avid pastimes. Eva was predeceased by her devoted husband of nearly 40 years John F. Martone who passed in 1988 as well as her loving brother Walter Kasheta. She and Walter shared day trips, concerts and dinners before he passed in 2005. She is survived by her loving daughter Lora Martone of Westfield and her partner Michael Snyder. Michael was a loyal friend who shared afternoon chats and lunches with Eva. She is also survived by two loving nieces Jane Martone of Huntington and Marie Alvarez of Southwick as well as by a special niece Patricia Stefanik and her husband Jack of Cape Coral Florida. Eva enjoyed immensely dining out and about with her family. She also especially enjoyed her gatherings with girlfriends often hosted by her dear friend of many years Jeannine Gonella of Feeding Hills. Eva’s zest for life and laughter will be sadly missed by all her knew her. Eva was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Westfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett St. Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will be held Thursday morning from 8:30 AM – 10AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
