2:46 a.m.: Motor vehicle arrest, East Main Street. Police reported that they initially stopped a driver for speeding, going 55 MPH in a 40 MPH zone. Upon talking to the driver, police smelled alcohol. Gary S. Germain, 36, of Agawam, was asked to perform field sobriety tests and failed, and was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, red light violation and speeding in violation of special regulation.
1:31 p.m.: Larceny, Sackett Street. Police received a report of a stolen generator from someone’s home. The victim’s daughter initially called in the complaint but was not at her mother’s home and was only able to inform police that there was “something” stolen. Police investigated and found the item that was stolen. However, there were no arrests or suspects reported at the time of the report.
6:30 p.m.: Medical emergency, Main Street. Police received a report from a concerned party who said that their boyfriend bought opiates and may have overdosed. According to the call, the report came from a separate location from the patient. Police could not report if there was an overdose, but someone was transported to Baystate Noble from the location given by the caller.
10:15 p.m.: Incapacitated person, Springfield Road. Police received a report of a person in a car that appeared to be passed out. The caller described the vehicle having its front tires partially on the curb in a parking lot, on a mulch island in between rows of cars. Police arrived and arrested Matthew S. Gushue, 26, of Agawam, and charged him with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating under the influence of alcohol.
