Major crime and incident report

Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016

12:20 a.m.: Medical emergency, Orange Street. Police received a call from someone who reported that a male in his 20s was found unresponsive. While police dispatch was gathering information from the caller, they said that the male woke up and “took off.” Police and Westfield Fire attempted to locate the person but were not able to. At the scene, police found drug paraphernalia to indicate heroin use.

11:25 a.m.: Motor vehicle violation, South Meadow Road. Police began a chase with a motorcyclist after it failed to stop for them. Police were unable to get the motorcyclist to stop and had to eventually cease the chase, but were able to get a license plate, as well as talk to one of the other riders that were riding along with the motorcyclist who drove away. Police were unable to cite at the time of the report.

12:31 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident, Union Street and Springfield Road. Police received a report of a two-car accident at the intersection involving a 2009 GMC Canyon and a 2004 Honda Odyssey. Police also received reports of injuries at the scene. Police arrived and requested two tow trucks and an ambulance. Police reported that a patient was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital.

5:22 p.m.: Found property, walk-in. Police received six wallets from the Stop and Shop Supermarket that have been left at the store between February and April of this year. According to police, the owners were not found and Stop and Shop holds onto the wallets until they reportedly reach a certain number, then turn them in to the police. If you have lost a wallet in that time frame, contact Westfield Police.
