Good morning Westfield! I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. I am away at Army Drill this weekend but here is a quick update:
Tomorrow marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Westfield lost three members of the community that day- Tara Shea Creamer, Brian Murphy, and Daniel Trant. Tomorrow we will come together as a community to honor and remember these individuals and everyone else who lost their lives as a result of the events on 9/11.
At 9:45 Westfield Fire Department will be holding a ceremony of reflection and remembrance in honor first responders. Another ceremony will take place at 12:30 at the 9/11 memorial on North Elm Street with the mayor and family members of the Westfield residents who lost their lives. At 1:00 the Sons of Erin will hold their annual memorial.
Each year our city, state, and nation pause to remember the tragic events of 9/11. Whether we are honoring the fallen in Westfield, New York City, Los Angeles or anywhere in between. Each year on this day people across our country put aside their differences to remember those we have lost. September 11th was a day that affected us all and continues to have an impact today. It is important that we remember.
I hope everyone takes a moment to reflect tomorrow. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns at [email protected] or 413-572-3920.
