Dear Editor,
Over a stretch of time from August 2013 through April 2014, I suffered a variety of health issues including a soft tissue brain injury, multi-organ failure and a fractured left leg. Talk about Murphy’s Law: Whatever can go wrong did go wrong!!
During my lengthy recuperation process, one Godsend continues to be the Pioneer Valley Brain Injury Support Group and their introduction to All Out Adventures whose mission is to promote health, community and independence for people with disabilities and their families and friends through outdoor recreation.
What may not be known is that All Out Adventures, thanks to some funding from the auspices of the Mass. Dept. of Conservation and Recreation, serves people in your area who, like me, participate in kayaking, canoeing and recumbent cycling activities. Many readers would be amazed at what a physical and psychological boost these are for me and the other participants!
On Sunday, September 18, many of us will be participating in a 13-mile kayak-a-thon going from Sunderland to Northampton with all of the money raised going to support the availability of no or low fee outdoor recreation programs for those of us with disabilities. The kayak-a-thon will end at 68 Damon Road in Northampton at the site of the Northampton Community Rowing Club’s Boathouse.
If any of your readers are interested in sponsoring us, they may make checks payable to “All Out Adventures” and send them to AOA, 214 State Street, Northampton, MA 01060.
Thanks so much for your support!
Sincerely yours,
Angela A. Boyle
