West Paris, ME – Brenda J. Chrystal, 76, of West Paris, Maine passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Ledgeview Living Center. She was born in Springfield, MA on June 6, 1940. Brenda attended Suffield High School, raised her family in Southwick, MA and moved to Auburn, Maine in 1994 to be close to her youngest daughter and then newborn grandson, Robby. She was a member of the American Legion Post 338 Women’s Auxiliary and coached softball at the Southwick Recreation Center where she was recognized as Coach of the Year. Brenda played bass guitar, loved country music, loved to sing and dance, loved animals, being outside and walking. Brenda had a terrific sense of humor and was able to see the humor in the most mundane, every day things as only Brenda could.
Brenda leaves six children, Darlene Proulx and husband Roy of Washington, TX, Carl Zukowski of West Suffield, CT, Eugene Chrystal of Southwick, MA, Bobbie Bishop and fiancé Rodger Blanchard of Bellevue, NE, Loretta Stober and fiancé Greg Fournier of Huntington, MA, and Julie Ouellette and husband Bob of Vienna, ME; her brother Carl J. Peterson and his wife Susanne of Vernon, CT; her sister Carolyn Bennett and her husband Bruce of Lincoln, RI; as well as 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Brenda was pre-deceased by her father, Clarence Rickson, who died in WWII in 1943; her stepfather and mother Carl B. and Helen (Ryba) Peterson of Suffield, CT; and her sister Marilyn Peterson of Ellington, CT.
A small memorial service will be held at the Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at noon.
