WESTFIELD—Residents are invited to Amelia Park ice rink this Saturday by Sen. Don Humason, to his annual Ice Skating Party.
The event happens this Saturday, Dec. 17, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with ice skating time being provided by Humason free to the public. In addition to the ice time, Humason will also be providing cookies from Westfield Technical Academy during the event, also free of charge.
Although there is no admission to the event, Humason urges those attending to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to local food pantries. Also, if you do not own ice skates, pairs are available for rental for $3.
“It’s just a little way of giving back to everybody who has been so good to me during the year, especially during the election year,” Humason said of the event. “I invite people from my district to skate for free, bring your family, bring your kids, bring your friends and enjoy yourself during Christmas time.”
There have been no confirmed special guests for this year’s event, but Humason did say that there was a chance that Santa Claus may come around if he’s “not too busy around the holidays.”
Last year, the event was able to raise over 50 pounds of food for local food pantries. Humason said that all the food will be gathered and donated to both the Westfield and Holyoke Food Pantries.
