Westfield – Jean F. (Slattery) Carrigan, 83, of Westfield died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at home. She was born in Boston on September 20, 1933 to Francis and Estelle (Hartnett) Slattery. Jean was a graduate of Mission High School and Boston Teachers College. She taught for over 20 years in Norwood and Westfield schools and retired from Highland School in Westfield in 1999. In retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod and Florida and spending time with her grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband, William J. Carrigan, Sr. She leaves her children, Patricia Carrigan and her husband Kevin Hannigan of East Granby, CT, William Carrigan and his wife Laura Imperatore of Wellesley and Mark Carrigan and his wife Michelle Smith-Carrigan of Schenectady, NY, two brothers John Slattery of Duxbury and Thomas Slattery of Brockton, and five grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Kelvin, Malachaiand Dwayne ”Skitchy” Carrigan. Two sisters, Mary Moloney and Ann Daniels, and a brother, Paul Slattery, predeceased her.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 9:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, 28 Bartlett St. Westfield, MA, followed by a gathering of friends and family at Tuckers Restaurant in Southwick, MA. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Rosen and the staff of Mercy Cares and Mercy Hospice for all of their outstanding care.
