Westfield – Ruth W. (Wilbur) Young, “Mema” 91, died Friday, March 10, 2017 at home. She was born in Pittsfield on May 11, 1925 to the late Woodward and Ruth (Chapel) Wilbur. She grew up in Lanesboro and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She has been a resident of Westfield since 1955. Ruth was a homemaker for many years and worked at the Cock of the Walk and Rite Aid. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. She was pre-deceased by her husband Carlton B. Young in 1986 and leaves her children Pamela Bacon and her husband Bernie of Ware, Sandie Pienkowski and her husband Al of Westfield, Allan Young of Westfield, Carroll Cullen and her husband Gary of North Carolina and Kim Vogel and her husband Tim of Chesterfield. Ruth also leaves her grandchildren Noel, Emily, Edward, Carl, Michael, Krystal, Allan Jr. “Moochie”, Amber and Justin, 11 great-grandchildren, her brother Art Wilbur of Florida, her sister Betty Joeckel of Minnesota and a special family friend Dawn Young. Ruth was pre-deceased by her son Rusty Young . The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for the kind and gentle care that was given to Ruth.
