Southwick: Tanner MacKenzie Brach, 24, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the U. S. Naval Base in San Diego, California. Born April 14, 1993, Tanner was on active duty with the United States Navy. He had just returned from Japan, where he served as an Aviation Ordnanceman (AO5) aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington. A 2010 graduate of Southwick-Tolland Regional High School, Tanner joined the Navy at the end of his senior year and had recently re-enlisted for another six years. It was while serving in Japan that he met his future wife, Sabrina Martinez. She and Tanner were wed in April 2017.
Family was everything to Tanner and he was an important part of a very large extended family. A loving kind-hearted young man, he was universally loved by everyone that knew him.
Besides his loving wife, Sabrina Martinez Brach, Tanner leaves behind his mother, Karina Pistritto; stepfather, Ermenegildo Pistritto; father, Gary Torello; brother, Nick Crosby; maternal grandparents, Alice and Walter Brach, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Dolores Shover and Kenneth Shover; his aunt Cassandra Vergnani and her fiancé, Anthony Sgueglia; aunt Shelly Garcia and her husband, Bernardo Garcia; aunt Bonnie Lee Miley; aunt Kim Quinn; cousins Carissa Vergnani, Sophia Vergnani, Eveline Vergnani, Summer Garcia, and Mark Quinn; as well as many great-aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours for Tanner will be from 4:00PM-8:00PM on Tuesday August 22, 2017 in the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM on Wednesday August 23, 2017 from the funeral home to be followed by an 11:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick. Tanner will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 26th at 11 AM with full military honors in New Cemetery, Southwick.
