Westfield – Atty. Michael E. O’Connell, 72, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was born in Springfield on January 16, 1945 to the late John and Agnes (Courtney) O’Connell. He was a lifelong resident and attended St. Mary’s Schools for 12 years. He was a Bar Advocate and private Attorney for many years. He was a former Mayor and Assessor for the city of Westfield. Mike was a basketball coach for many local teams including Westfield State College, St. Mary’s and the Westfield Park and Rec. He leaves his wife Cindy C. Harris, children John, Frank, Jake and Kelly, sister and brother in-law Dorthea and Barry Crowley. Other loved ones; Kelli, Michael, Hailey, Fallon, Tanner, Carleigh, Kate, Mary, Fran, Kerrie, Kevin and Shaleen. He also leaves many cousins relatives and “Ballplayers”. He was pre-deceased by his uncles Tom and Ed Courtney, Dot Conti and many other family members. Calling hours for Mike will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 2-4 pm from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Funeral and burial will be private.
