HUNTINGTON – The town of Huntington now has a traffic light, albeit a temporary one. Traffic signals will be providing alternating one way traffic on Route 112 at Mile Marker 3.10 just past Gardner State Park going north, during construction to repair a slope failure over the east branch of the Westfield River.
J.H. Maxymillian, Inc., the contractor for this project, is working under the District’s roadway repair contract. The duration of this work, which began two weeks ago, will be approximately eight weeks with an estimated cost of $300,000.00, according to a MassDOT spokeperson.
The contractor will be excavating down to the necessary depth and installing a Mechanically Stabilized Earth Slope, along with a rip-rap embankment to hold the roadway slope in place. The disturbed areas will receive new pavement and guardrail when the work is completed.
