Westfield – Robert (Bob) Sawyer, 83 of Westfield, died July 4 2018 at Genesis Health Care, Westfield Center. Bob was the son of Charles E. Sawyer and Ruth (Angier) Sawyer, the brother to Leon, Gordon, Russell and Barbara (Hatchett). He was raised in Westfield, where he spent his entire life. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Education in 1956 and a Masters Degree in Education in 1960 from Westfield State Teachers College. He taught at the Moseley Elementary School for many years. He was a member of the YMCA, the Mount Mariah Masonic Lodge, and the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. Bob was a dedicated and visible fan to the Westfield State University girls athletic programs. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church. To his friends, neighbors and anyone who knew him, he was a gentleman. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday at 11:00, at the Second Congregational Church, 487 Western Avenue, Westfield, MA.
