In recent decisions it has become obvious that the Westfield Fire commission has crossed the line. Passing over a veteran for employment is showing poor judgment. Using the excuse the other candidates were just better qualified? Or better related? The candidate has served his country and continues to serve, what better reason to hire him? Other commissions (police) have long-serving members but continue to show good judgment. Perhaps the long-serving Fire commission Chairman Masciadrelli has become arrogant in his decision-making process? If the decision is tainted in any way, it could be a costly legal decision costing the taxpayers even more money. The mayor and council should take note of this. Commissioner Masciadrelli, the city thanks you for your service, but it is time for you to move on.
