Westfield – Louis H. Soule, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 14, 2018. He was born in Huntington, MA to the late Robert L and Rose (Hill) Soule and was a 1948 graduate of Lee High School, where he played football and baseball. Louis spent his childhood in Aberdeen, MD and Otis, MA. He served his country during Korea from 1948-1952, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant at 20 years old. Louis worked in transportation for 30 years, was a member of the Teamsters Local 404 and retired in 1990. Louis enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, as well as playing golf, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. Mostly he enjoyed many vacations with family in Lake Winnipesaukee, Cape Cod and 25 winters on Jekyll Island, Georgia with his wife. Louis was married to Florence (Webster) Soule for 61 years, she passed in 2016. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Richard Soule and a sister Deborah Trank. He is survived by his three children, Peter and his wife MaryBeth of Westfield, Leiann Messer and her husband Lawrence of Westfield and Norman and his fiancé, Sherry Durej of Westfield, MA, his eight grandchildren, Tim, Laura Spice and Dan Soule, John and Andrew Messer, Katie (Messer) Guertin, Aaron and Angela Soule and ten great grandchildren. His family wishes to thank all of Louis’ nurses and nurses’ aides from Wingate West Springfield, Hospice of Western and Central Mass, and Caring Solutions for their kindness and excellent care. Louis’ funeral will be held on Thursday at 10AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield.
