Westfield – Thomas R. Nomakeo (Tommy), 77, passed away peacefully with his loving children by his side at the Harmony House in Chicopee on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born in Westfield to the late Adam and Jennie (Pitoniak) Nomakeo, on March 11, 1941 and was a graduate of Westfield Vocational High School with a trade in electrical. Tommy loved to spend time with his children which enabled them to have fantastic memories they will all forever cherish. He had quite a sense of humor which each of them inherited in one way or another. Tommy was a hard worker and worked for Digital Equipment Corp., F.L. Roberts, and Town & Country, and sometimes held more than one job at once to provide for his six children.
Tommy is survived by his children Michaele “Shelly” (Nomakeo) Holmes from Texas, John Nomakeo from Westfield, Dawnalyn (Nomakeo) Slonski from Connecticut, Thomas D. Nomakeo from Westfield, and Jeremiah Nomakeo from Westfield. He also leaves several grandchildren and one he had a special bond with, Stanley Slonski. Stanley nicknamed him “Pepaw” which seemed to stick with most everyone he met. He was predeceased by his son Michael Nomakeo and his sisters Phyllis Nomakeo and Mary Anne (Nomakeo) Hastings.
He was a great father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Please join us in celebrating his life with a Mass on Saturday, September 29th, 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. Donations in Tommy’s name may be directed to the Harmony House of Western MA on-line at www.harmonyhousewma.org or mailed to P.O. Box 6135, Holyoke, MA 01041.
