Southwick bar looking to expand

SOUTHWICK – Owners of The Skybox Sports Bar are looking to expand their business. During a public hearing with the Planning Board on September 11, Skybox owner Patrick Lynch proposed to add a permanent kitchen to their establishment, requiring a special permit.

Currently, the Skybox is strictly a sports bar that serves alcohol but no food. According to town planner Alan Slessler, the request for the kitchen will transform the Skybox into a restaurant.

The initial plan that Lynch brought to the Planning Board on September 11 had a few aspects that needed to be addressed. Slessler noted that the owners would need to have additional parking spaces if a kitchen is being installed. Exterior lighting and an enclosed dumpster were also things that needed to be improved upon.

Since the public hearing, Slessler has acknowledged that Lynch and his wife, who’s a co-owner, have addressed the requests from the Planning Board in an appropriate manner.

The bar owners will meet with the Planning Board again on September 25 where the board will review the changes, go over a summary of the property, and then have the opportunity to make a decision.
