GRANVILLE – The Granville Fire Department received a brand-new multi-purpose vehicle on Thursday.

At a cost of $55,000, the vehicle was purchased with funds that were appropriated through an article that was passed at the annual town meeting in May to approve the purchase. Doc’s Signs & Truck Outfitters of Pittsfield designed the truck.
According to Granville Fire Chief Matt Ripley, the new addition to the department will serve as a command vehicle for fire personnel to use on scene as well as for EMS (Emergency Medical Service) to use when ambulances are unavailable. The vehicle will have medical supplies, oxygen and can also be used to store supplies.
The vehicle will be in service this week and Ripley is looking forward to it being ready for use.
“It’s going to be something new and we hope we can use it for the months and years to come,” said Ripley.
Previously, the department used a rescue truck as the vehicle that would serve the responsibilities the new vehicle will have. Ripley also hopes that the multi-purpose vehicle can help reduce some of the mileage on the other vehicles that the department has.
