Southwick Rotary names recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Vocational and Community Service Awards

Ray Fox, President, Rotary Club of Southwick, has announced the recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Vocational and Community Service Awards as follows: Michael McMahon – Chairman, Economic Development, Town of Southwick; Christopher D. Boyd, Director and Former President, Rotary Club of Southwick; Southwick Police K-9 Unit, Town of Southwick; Jack Jeneral, Major Donor, Southwick K-9 Unit.

The objective of the award is to recognize individuals or groups who have embodied the characteristics of Rotary’s motto of “Service above Self.” In making the announcement, Fox said “Rotary selects individuals and groups who have demonstrated excellence and have performed service that results in long-lasting value to the community, programs that support the elderly, the less fortunate, the environment, and most importantly our youth and future leaders of the community.”

The awards program was introduced in 1996 and to date has recognized 64 individuals and five nonprofit organizations from Southwick and the surrounding communities. The event takes place October 24 at Tucker’s Restaurant, 625 College Highway, Southwick, starting with a social hour at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 and must be purchased in advance by contacting any Rotarian or Bob Fox at 413 579 4585.
