For the eighth year, Special Olympics athletes from all across Massachusetts will gather at Westfield State University for the Special Olympics Massachusetts Flag Football Qualifying Tournament. The qualifying tournament will take place on Sunday October 14 beginning with team registration at 9 a.m., opening ceremonies at 9:45a.m., and competition beginning at 10 a.m. This is one of three Special Olympics Massachusetts Flag Football Qualifying tournaments going on throughout the state on Sunday. These tournaments are the qualifying events for the State Tournament which be held November 17 at Gillette Stadium and Franklin High School. In addition to Flag Football, Special Olympics Cheerleading will also be taking place on the campus at an indoor location.12 teams from Western and Central Massachusetts will be competing in the Flag Football Tournament. The event is hosted in partnership with WSU Athletics and student athletes serve as volunteers, including WSU football players as officials.
