Upcoming November Programs at WSPL
November 13, 2018 @ 8:00 am - November 14, 2018 @ 5:00 pm
The Dementia Experience, Tuesday, November 13th from 2:30-4pm. The Dementia Experience is an intense, interactive training that uses sensory modifications and role playing activities to build empathy and understanding. Participants are asked to re-enact typical daily activities such as taking medications and preparing meals “while under the influence of dementia.” Participants will also learn and practice communication techniques and care-giving tactics that preserve the dignity of those experiencing cognitive impairment. 2.5 CEU credits for available for Social Workers, Nurses, and Case Managers. Presented by Armbrook Village, The Council on Aging, and WSPL. This program is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.
Who Goes There? – with Agawam Paranormal, Tuesday, November 13th from 6:30-8:30pm. What was that strange noise? Where did that creepy shadow come from? Why is my dog barking at the corner? We all stop to consider the “ghostly” world of the paranormal in October, but what about the rest of the year? If you live or work in a “haunted” location, everyday can feel like Halloween! In this presentation, Rob Goff Sr. and the Agawam Paranormal team will explore some of the local activity happening right in our own backyards. Goff will be showcasing some of the best evidence the team has captured during their investigations of local landmarks, including the Backyard Bar & Grill (formerly Vincent’s Steak House) on Riverdale Road, the Tap Room Bar & Grill in Wilbraham, and the Smith Art Museum in Springfield. This program is free and open to the public, no registration required.
Get Ready to Retire – presented by Susan Allen, Wednesday, November 14th from 6:30-8pm. Whether you are planning on retiring in a few years, or are already retired, this workshop is for you! We will discuss claiming social security, creating retirement income, 401K and 403B rollovers, investment fees, and much more. Bring your questions! This program is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.
