Joseph L. Hanouille

SOUTHWICK – Joseph Leon Hanouille, 55, of Southwick, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018. He was born in Westfield, MA on Nov. 2, 1962, and lived in Southwick the majority of his life. He was the son of the late Mary Angela (Ochocki) Hanouille and the late Joseph Leon Hanouille Sr.

A printer by trade, he opened his own business in the late 90’s and operated Jet Press in East Granby, CT in the early 2000’s. Known by many as “Joe the Printer,” he was a proud supporter of local civic organizations, first responders, veterans, and active military – often donating his time and talents to meet the printing needs of those groups and organizations.

Up until his passing he worked from home as a graphic artist, with the majority of his time devoted to creating police union yearbooks and programs for their events.

Joe was the type of person to give the shirt off his own back to those in need, and he would do anything for his loved ones. He was an avid fan of music, especially the likes of Johnny Cash, KISS, B.B. King, David Bowie, and so many more, and he especially enjoyed going to concerts in his younger days. He was also a huge enthusiast of antique Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles, classic muscle cars, tattoos, and Cadillacs, and he was proud to be an American. The ultimate smart aleck, he was always quick to crack a sarcastic joke or tell a witty story, with a keen ability to find humor in anything. Above all else, he was the ultimate family man and proud to be a “Pops” to his loved ones.

Joe is survived by his best friend and loving son, Jeffrey Joseph Hanouille, along with his wife Krystal Hanouille and their daughter Kylie Hanouille, who Pops loved more than anyone in this world. He is also survived by his siblings: Edward Hanouille of Southwick; Paul Hanouille and wife Anja of Florida;  Lucy Hanouille of Texas; Joan (Hanouille) Tomlin of Tennessee; and Catherine (Hanouille) Diaz of Ware. He also leaves behind his furry best friend Carlton (his beloved Boston Terrier) along with countless other friends and loved ones. Joe was predeceased by his mother and father, Mary and Joseph Hanouille.

A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 (what would have been his 56th birthday) at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, located at 624 College Highway in Southwick. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for individuals to perform a random act of kindness in Joe’s name. The family has also set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for his services. Anyone interested in supporting that cause may go to www.gofundme.com/funeral-expenses-for-joe-hanouille.
