Summer Events for Adults at the Agawam Library

The Adult Summer Reading Program is in full swing at the Agawam Public Library! “A Universe of Stories” is the 2019 Summer Reading theme and we have exciting prizes and events for adults all summer long. Reader’s BINGO is back this summer! Our readers will have opportunities to win daily and weekly raffle prizes, as well as the grand prize. Details are available at the library. Our winning continues until Friday, August 9 at 12:00 p.m.! Don’t forget to pick up a Summer Reading T-Shirt or baseball hat at the Information Desk. All sizes are just $10! And be sure to visit the lower level to contribute to a community art project. All it takes is a sticker or two! We hope to see you one our programs listed below this summer!

 

Ongoing Fridays at 10:00 a.m. Satellite Sites – Agawam Library Around Town Library staff members Cher and Wendy continue their Satellite Sites this summer. Each Friday, join them at a different location around town to chat about the library, its offerings, and participate in a travelling book discussion. We will be reading Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card all summer long! Catch up with us at one of the following locations to share your impressions of the book! July 12 @ 10:00 a.m. Main Street Deli July 19 @ 10:00 a.m. Partner’s Restaurant July 26 @ 10:00 a.m. Auntie Cathie’s Kitchen August 2 @ 10:00 a.m. School St. Park Pavilion Thursday, July 18 @ 6:30 p.m. A Universe of Stories with NASA with NASA Solar System Ambassador Charles Fulco Learn why scientific literacy is important, why the Apollo 11 mission was significant and how to get ready for the 2024 total solar eclipse. Charles Fulco is a NASA Solar System Ambassador and is an outreach coordinator for NASA’s 2024 Solar Eclipse Task Force. Monday, July 29 at 8:00 p.m. A Universe of Stories with Starlab with Kevin Kopchynksi the Springfield Science Museum’s portable planetarium STARLAB is not just for kids-but you can pretend to be one! Kevin Kopchynski from the Springfield Science Museum will bring the universe to the Agawam Public Library. Participants must be able to crawl and sit on the floor in STARLAB. Kevin Kopchynski is a long-time resident of Western Massachusetts and works as a naturalist and a teacher. Please call 789-1550 X4 or go online to register www.agawamlibrary.org.

 

Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. A “Glowing” Universe of YogaFit with Michelle Butler Adult Drop-in YogaFit lights up the summer! Stretch and pose in a gently glowing atmosphere! No registration is necessary and everyone receives glow bracelets.

 

Monday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. A Universe of Stories with Sheryl Faye as Astronaut Sally Ride Sheryl Faye returns to the Agawam Library with her brand new historical interpretation of Sally Ride! Ride was an American astronaut, physicist and engineer who became the first woman in space in 1983. As a full-time actress, Sheryl Faye performs eight different one-woman shows all over New England. She also writes and performs with StageCoach Improv. We are delighted to invite Sheryl back to participate in the Summer Reading programs festivities! Thursday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. Summer Reading Program Ends Be sure to get your raffle tickets in by noon on this date. One winner will be chosen to win a $100 VISA Gift Card!
