Free Dementia Friendly Training at Armbrook Village
We believe it is time to better understand dementia. Armbrook Village’s Dementia Experience uses sensory modifications and role playing activities to depict real life situations that a person living with Mild Cognitive Impairment or dementia would face. Getting dressed, taking your daily medications and preparing for a meal, are all simple activities that are severely thwarted by cognitive disability.
The Dementia Experience thrusts you into the daily life of someone with dementia by simulating the physical ailments afflicting many seniors and creating the frustration, confusion and anxiety that accompanies cognitive impairment.
Who should attend this workshop: associates of a Senior Living community; families or a Caregiver of someone with dementia; senior center administrators, staff and members; skilled nursing/rehab staff; and professionals who work with seniors.
This is a free event that will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 6 pm at Armbrook Village, 551 North Road, Westfield, MA. This is a free event, but space is limited, so registration is necessary. Please call Armbrook Village at (413) 568-0000 to register. This training will be about two hours. Social Workers, Nurses, Case Managers and EMTs can obtain 2.5 CEUs for attending.
