The path to progress is often a bumpy one.
I’m not sure if I heard this at some point in my life (a motivational poster in the 1990’s, perhaps?) or if I made it up myself, but either way it is true.
Since becoming a morning paper and outsourcing our delivery, we have had many bumps. For that, everyone at The Westfield News and Reminder Publishing is sorry.
We are upset, too, that you may not be receiving your newspapers on time or at all. Some delivery has been sporadic, while other customers have received their copies of The Westfield News and The Republican every day.
Please know that we share your frustration. We work hard every day to bring you news that matters and our goal is to have it delivered to you on time. I know the reporting staff and I want you to read our stories. Our sales reps want you to see the ads. Our entire team wants you to have your news with your morning Joe.

One of the reasons we changed to a morning delivery, along with The Republican, was to eliminate the number of carriers going down the street. There were separate delivery carriers for the two daily papers as well as the weekly Extra and The Original Pennysaver. We have eliminated unnecessary trips and consolidated to just one delivery, which saves on gas and emissions and plastic bags.
You also may have noticed your Westfield News is a little thinner than it used to be, but it’s not lacking local news. In fact, we removed much of the Associated Press to make more room for the local news you want. By delivering your paper with The Republican, you get the local stories you need to know in The Westfield News as well as the regional and national news.
And, we’ve added real news to The Pennysaver. No longer just a “shopper,” The Pennysaver is a weekly paper with stories about Westfield, Southwick and the HIlltowns as well as the briefs and events you’ve always sought out in that paper.
So please bear with as us we traverse this path to progress. Thank you for your continued patience as we work out the bumps. We hope to have these issues resolved quickly and we appreciate your loyalty!
